John Siegenthaler says...

PhoenixEvolutionCutaway

The Phoenix Evolution is…
basically a high efficiency boiler, an indirect fired water heater, much of the piping and the controls for a system in one compact, high output appliance. You may know the Evolution as the very popular Phoenix water heater with a new integrated heat exchange space heating module. Either way this appliance results in less space requirements, lower parts and installation costs, improved system efficiency and reliability.

Simple is Good
Until now hydronic has been
too complicated resulting in
too many unsatisfactory installations. The Phoenix Evolution hydronic appliance removes many arcane technical decisions and fancy piping seen in many boiler hydronic systems while providing a technically superior
solution for radiant heating.

The Right Sizes
Radiant Heating to 135,000BTU and
Plenty of Hot Water

The Phoenix Radiant module can seamlessly supply 1,000 btu to 135,000 btu for a radiant heating system serving 1000 to 6,000 square feet.

At the same time the Phoenix Evolution/Phoenix Evolution Solar can also provide copious amounts of domestic hot water for the high peak loads experienced in custom homes due the combination of high recovery rates and hot water storage. No more multiple tankless water heaters!

Sizing:
A single Phoenix plus heater has three btu capacities (100,130,199)  for space heating for homes up to 5,500 sq ft while the storage tank capacity options  (55,80,119) help meet the peak domestic hot water demands of most custom homes. 1Lower Installed Cost
Phoenix Evolution components cost less than all the components required for a conventional boiler/ indirect water heater system and it also costs less to install. The installation labor of the mechanical equipment in a hydronic radiant system provides the single best opportunity to reduce the installed costs of a radiant system and increase contractor profits at the same time by permitting more accurate installation labor cost estimates. Simple means less expensive.

Proven Technology: Reliability & Durability
The Phoenix Evolution has proven to be a highly durable heater utilizing a stainless tank and cupronickel combustion chamber employed reliably in over 100,000 jobs and utilizing components used in millions of condensing boilers worldwide.

2Ultimate Gas-Fired Heat Source:
A “Wet Heads Dream,”

John Siegenthaler: July P&M magazine
The leading technical engineering writer for the hydronic industry wrote an article recently speculating on what would be the ideal characteristics of the ultimate hydronic heat source of the future. The Evolution meets all his requirements…and he had not seen an Evolution. Dig deeper into the Evolution and discover that it is not only simple but it solves the key technical limitations of all the low mass boilers/water heaters on the market today.

5High combustion efficiency.

4Low head loss.

3Low standby heat loss.

2High thermal mass.

1Minimum 20-year design life.

Save Space, Save Money
The Phoenix radiant can slide into a closet with zero clearance to combustibles and sealed combustion PVC venting. All the piping and components are installed and serviced from the front, where a door may be located.

2Technical Advantages: Smart and Simple
A 96% efficient Phoenix Radiant is a modulating, high mass hydronic system that drastically reduces cycling experienced with  low mass high efficiency boilers and tankless water heaters when applied to systems with multiple zones. The system is also smart. The Phoenix Radiant module uses the smarts of the on-board 926 Phoenix control to vary both the speed of the tank circulator and even vary the tank temperature to match the heating system load while firing the burner only when absolutely necessary. Outdoor reset..no problem. Install an outdoor sensor and the system perfectly matches heating requirements automatically.

1Phoenix Rated #1 by PG&E: Real Efficiency
The Phoenix water heater was tested by PG&E , side by side with other water heaters, and proved much more efficient than any condensing or standard  water heater. There is real efficiency and stated efficiency. Find out the difference. (Hint: modulation matters)

Title24 : A Silver Bullet
The Phoenix Evolution provides tremendous compliance advantage with combined 96% efficient water heating and space heating or you may select a  Phoenix Solar Evolution to receive truly extraordinary credit towards compliance. The January 1, 2010 Title 24 regulations give extraordinary credit for solar hot water and combined hydronics while de emphasizing tankless water heaters.

Phoenix Solar Appliance
The Phoenix Evolution Solar uses the common Euro single tank bi-valent design where the entire storage capacity of the tank is available for solar water storage but only the top 50% of the storage tank is available for gas fired hot water storage. A higher Btu input model may be selected to provide more domestic hot water pick up if needed, with no system efficiency loss.

Changing the game…again.
Heat Transfer Products transformed the hydronic industry with introduction of the ultra high efficiency, modulating Munchkin boiler in 1999. Now, the Evolution is the next big leap for the hydronic industry.
